project update

Surveyors have found a wild service tree in Sodbury, South Gloucestershire. This species is fairly rare and was unusual to find growing in a hedgerow. It is an indicator of ancient woodland and is seldom found growing outside of woods. An interesting find!

Freshford near Bath was completely surveyed by a team of at least 20 local residents. They are hoping to try their hand at dry stone walling to repair a few dilapidated walls that the survey highlighted.

The parish of Paulton in Bath and North east Somerset was completely surveyed during the summer/autumn 2002 by a dedicated surveyor. Thanks Dennis!

Bradley Stoke is one of the most built-up areas in the survey but still has some very old boundaries, even a possible Saxon hedge. Volunteers are surveying these hedges and a walk following the course a squirrel could travel is being planned for local school children.
